Enable Windows 2000 to handle Japanese
There are just 3 things to do when you enable Windows 2000 English version
to handle Japanese.

Click Start button, Click Setting
menu, Click Control Panel.
Control Panel
window appears. Double-click Regional Options
icon.
If you find "regional settings" in stead of "regional
options", your PC
is not Windows 2000 but Windows 95/98/Me.
Following 3-step actions happen in this Regional
Options window.

Click General tab.
In Language setting for the system area, find
Japanese check box then check it.
Click Apply
button. You will need to insert Windows 2000 CD.
Windows 2000 will ask you
to restart PC, but say No and continue to
Step 2.

Click Input Locales tab.
In Installed input locales area, click Add
button.
New window appears. Select Japanese then
click OK button.
New window disappears. You add Japanese in Input Language field.
Select Japanese and click Set
as Default... button.
Click Apply button. Windows 2000 will ask you
to restart PC, but say No and continue to

Click General tab again.
In Language setting for the system area,
click Set default... button.
Select Japanese in new windows. then click OK
button.
Windows 2000 will ask you to restart PC and say Yes.

These 3-step actions won't change your Windows 2000's appearances.
Start menu is still English. My Documents icon is still English. But after
restart, your PC can handle Japanese. You can read, write and print
Japanese completely.
